Description

The tower was constructed in 1476, during a time when the Knights made significant efforts to strengthen Rhodes's defenses by reinforcing existing castles and building new ones to counter the growing Ottoman threat. This defensive initiative occurred shortly after the fall of Constantinople in 1453 and a series of devastating Mamluk raids on Rhodes from Egypt in 1440 and 1444.
